Ruby is a red and white Alaskan Malamute from Rachel and Anthony Robb at Icewolf. The decision to take on a Malamute was not a light one and followed roughly 15 years of research into the breed and waiting until our circumstances were just right and the right puppy was available.
She has definitely been a challenge at times and has taught us a lot!
The work we have put in with training has paid off and Ruby is clever, loving and has a fun personality.
She needs to be kept busy and does Sled Dog rallies in the winter, agility, obedience, CaniX running, back-packing walks as well as normal every day excercise. She has also got her Bronze and Silver Kennel Club Good Citizen awards and has done quite well when shown. We only do agility for fun, but Ruby has been in Agility Display Teams at several events, including the Royal County of Berkshire Show. Ruby has achieved her Working Team Dog award from the Alaskan Malamute Cloub of America.
Ruby is incredibly strong for her size, as Malamutes are bred to be.
Since getting Ruby, and later Monty and Hudson we have discovered that Malamutes take over your life, and we wouldn't have it any other way!
